Cleaning kit and tools

Pre- and post-range cleaning process

  1. Before: make sure the bore and chamber are dry (no oil pooled), check action-screw and scope torque, and check that magazines are clean.
  2. At the range: after a cleaning, fire fouling shots before scoring groups or testing ammo.
  3. After: wipe down, clear the bolt face and extractor of debris, and log the round count.
  4. On interval: dry patch about every 100 rounds and use a solvent-wetted nylon brush in the chamber or leade every 200–300 rounds (Lilja). ELEY suggests about 90–100 rounds between competition cleanings. See the maintenance schedule Lilja · ELEY.
  5. Always use a bore guide and clean from the breech where your rifle allows it.
