About 457 Builds
457 Builds is an independent build and parts-compatibility guide for CZ 457 owners. It is part of Rimfire Builds, operated by Tomahawk Designs LLC, Utah. Our sister site, T1x Builds, covers the Tikka T1x.
Mission
Help owners pick parts that actually fit, avoid known problems, and do basic work safely. We do that by putting the facts that are scattered across manufacturer pages, manuals, retailer listings, reviews and forums in one place, with every claim traceable to a source.
How we research and cite
- Every part, price, spec and fitment claim links to its source: manufacturer pages and manuals first, then retailer listings, published reviews, and owner reports.
- When sources disagree (for example how the T1x barrel is retained, or what a recoil lug is made of), we show the conflict instead of picking one quietly.
- Prices are what the linked page showed on the date checked (currently as of Oct 2026). They change often, and the retailer's price at checkout is what counts.
- Torque values and procedures come only from manufacturer manuals or the part maker's instructions. We don't invent specs.
Confidence ratings
Each claim has a badge: high (confirmed on the maker or retailer page or in the manual), med (credible secondary source, or seen only in a search snippet of the official page), low (single owner report or unverified). Low items are clearly marked and are never the basis of a recommendation on their own.
How we pick products
- Fit first: the part must be documented to fit the specific variant.
- Then known issues, price and availability, and how deep the maker's support is.
- Commission has no effect on what we recommend. Where a maker has no affiliate program we still recommend it and link to the maker directly.
- We link to the specific product page, not a store front page.
Independence and what we don't do
- We are not affiliated with or endorsed by CZ (Česká zbrojovka) / CZ-USA or any retailer.
- Some links are affiliate links (disclosure), which may earn a commission at no cost to you.
- We do not sell firearms, ammunition, suppressors or any products. Retailers and licensed dealers handle sales, FFL and NFA transfers and legal compliance.
- We don't accept payment for placement or for reviews.
Our story
We are a group of rimfire aficionados from Utah. We love plinking, hunting, tinkering, building and shooting anything rimfire (and centerfire, too). We want to share our love of the shooting sports and pass these skills and this knowledge on to the next generation. Most of all, we want to have fun with our rimfire firearms.
What we're about
We're a group of rimfire aficionados based in Utah. We plink and hunt, we tinker and build, and we shoot just about anything rimfire, plus plenty of centerfire. This site is where we put what we learn so other shooters don't have to dig through a dozen forum threads to find it.
Why rimfire
Rimfire is where a lot of people start, and where a lot of us keep coming back. It's affordable to shoot, quiet enough to be friendly, and accurate enough to be humbling. A .22 bolt gun is a great platform for learning fundamentals, trying upgrades, and simply having a good day at the range.
Passing it on
We want to share our love of the shooting sports and pass the skills and knowledge on to the next generation. That means helping new and young shooters get started the right way: safety first, then the fundamentals, then the fun stuff. Our Start here page, sighting-in guide and range bag checklists are written with new shooters and mentors in mind.
Having fun
Most of all, we want to have fun with our rimfire firearms, and help you have fun with yours.
Our promise to readers
- Every spec, price and fitment claim links to a source and carries a confidence rating (see how we research).
- We say clearly when we haven't tested something hands-on.
- Recommendations come first; commissions never decide what we recommend (see our affiliate disclosure).
- When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.
