Suppressor host setup: threads, ammo and practical notes
Threads
Tikka T1x
US/Canada T1x barrels are threaded 1/2-28 UNEF; UK and Australia use 1/2-20 UNF (Tikka manual and importers). The manual says a suppressor must seat on the barrel shoulder and must not bottom out on the thread end. See specs.
CZ 457
457 thread pitch depends on market and model: US barrels are commonly 1/2-28, while EU/UK barrels are 1/2-20 UNF; check your model's spec and use a thread adapter only from a reputable maker. See specs.
Ammo
Standard-velocity and subsonic loads keep below the ~1,125 fps supersonic crack Angstadt Arms: suppressed .22 LR ammo; a bolt action doesn't need cycling power, so even very low-velocity loads like CCI Quiet-22 work. Point of impact usually shifts with a can on — re-zero or record the offset (an owner saw about 1 in lower) Rimfire Central T1x ammo thread. More in the ammo guide.
Practical notes
Tikka T1x
- Check alignment (bore-to-can) before shooting; use a thread protector when the can is off — see barrels & suppressor hosts.
- Rimfire cans foul quickly; follow the can maker's cleaning guidance.
- T1x barrels are not a simple swap (see anatomy).
CZ 457
- Check alignment (bore-to-can) before shooting; use a thread protector when the can is off — see barrels & suppressor hosts.
- Rimfire cans foul quickly; follow the can maker's cleaning guidance.
- 457 barrels can be swapped for a threaded heavy barrel (see anatomy).
