Quick answer
In the 72 parts we track for each rifle, the CZ 457 leads clearly on barrels (13 vs 3) and magazines (14 vs 3, plus 3 T1x extensions), and slightly on triggers (7 vs 4). The T1x is level or ahead on chassis/stocks (16 vs 17), rails, rings and mounts (10 vs 8) and small ergonomic parts, and it shares triggers and many accessories with the T3x. Pick the CZ for barrel swaps and the deepest catalogue, and the T1x if your goal is a T3x-matched trainer.

How we counted

These counts come from our own parts database: 72 tracked parts per rifle, each with a fitment source and a confidence rating, checked October 2026. They show what we've verified, not every part ever made, so treat them as a relative measure. Browse the lists: T1x parts · CZ 457 parts.

Barrels: the CZ's biggest advantage

The 457 keeps CZ's swappable-barrel design, held by two set screws [1]. That supports factory barrel sets (Varmint set, MTR sets) and prefits from Lilja, Area 419 [2], IBI, Whidden, Lothar Walther and Grey Birch. The T1x has a few prefits (IBI, Whidden, Lothar Walther) and needs a gunsmith. Details: barrel and trigger upgrades.

Chassis and stocks: a tie

Most big chassis makers support both: MDT (ORYX CZ, ORYX T1x, XRS CZ, XRS T1x, ACC CZ, ACC T1x), KRG (Bravo CZ), XLR and Grey Birch. The T1x also drops into T3x Lite/UPR stocks [3]. See chassis builds.

Triggers

The CZ has the Timney CZ 457, JARD, the CZ Flyweight and YoDave springs. The T1x takes T3/T3x triggers such as the TriggerTech Tikka Special and Timney #430, which is the same catalogue as the centerfire T3x [4].

Magazines

CZ magazines are shared across the 452/453/455/457/512 family, in 5-, 10- and 15-round versions (5-rd, 10-rd, 15-rd). The T1x has its own 10-round (EuroOptic) and 5-round flush mags, plus extensions such as the +4 from MK Machining.

Mounts

Both have 11 mm dovetails and plenty of Picatinny options. T1x rails use T1x-specific hole spacing (2.508 in per EGW), not T3x spacing. Options: EGW T1x, MDT T1x, EGW CZ, MDT CZ. More: optics and mounting.

How do other platforms compare?

For perspective, the Ruger 10/22 has the largest .22 aftermarket overall, and Rem 700-footprint actions (Bergara B-14R, Vudoo, Zermatt RimX) inherit the centerfire Rem 700 stock and trigger catalogue:

Which should you choose for upgrades?

GoalBetter platform
Swap barrels or calibers at homeCZ 457
Match a Tikka T3x (stock, trigger)T1x
Cheapest, most varied magazinesCZ 457
Same chassis family as your centerfireEither (check that the maker offers both inlets)
Left-handed buildsBoth have LH rifles; check each part's LH availability (T1x LH, CZ LH)

Resale and parts availability

A big aftermarket also helps resale: buyers know they can upgrade. CZ's barrel system means a worn or damaged barrel is a home swap rather than a total loss. T1x parts that overlap with the T3x (triggers, grips) hold their value because centerfire shooters want them too.

Tools for any upgrade

A torque driver (Brownells all-in-one 15–65 in-lb or F.A.T. wrench), a gun vise (Best Gun Vise) and blue thread locker (242 medium) cover most installs.

FAQ

Does the CZ 457 have a bigger aftermarket than the Tikka T1x?

Overall yes, mainly in barrels and magazines. Of the 72 parts we track per rifle, the CZ has 13 barrel options vs 3 and 14 magazine items vs 7. Chassis options are about even.

Can I swap barrels on a Tikka T1x?

It isn't designed for home barrel swaps like the CZ 457. Prefits from IBI, Whidden and Lothar Walther exist; use a gunsmith.

Do T3x triggers fit the T1x?

Yes. T3/T3x-pattern triggers like the TriggerTech Tikka Special and Timney #430 list T1x compatibility.

Do CZ 455 magazines fit the CZ 457?

CZ's polymer rimfire magazines are listed as fitting the 452/453/455/457/512 family; check caliber.
